Du 11 au 13 juillet dernier, s’est déroulé à Montréal le colloque “Everyday cohabitation : Methodologies for the study of social interaction in increasingly diverse cities”. Le colloque a rassemblé près d’une vingtaine de chercheur-e-s travaillant sur différentes formes de cohabitation urbaine à partir de différentes disciplines, méthodologies et universités. Description du colloque :
“The face of globalization today—economic crises, terrorism, increasing disparities between the rich and the poor, environmental degradation, the movement of refugees, increased competition for skilled workers—serves as a reminder that we are living in a time of unprecedented human mobility (Nail 2015). Whether this new migratory reality is fueled by economic, political or humanitarian factors, one thing is clear: large cities across the globe are rapidly becoming more diverse (Vertovec 2014) and the study of this diversification requires us to rethink our methodological tools and conceptual frameworks. The workshop laid out in this proposal will examine the social dynamics of cohabitation in increasingly diverse public urban spaces. It will take place in Montréal from July 11-13, 2018 and will bring together researchers from multiple fields of the social sciences and humanities in order to discuss the methodological approaches and conceptual tools used to study cohabitation in urban public spaces in the context of super-diversity.”
